track screw spike
Railway screw spikes are important railway accessories used to fasten rails, sleepers, and rail fasteners together. They play a vital role in the railway system, ensuring the stability and safety of railway tracks, and are suitable for different types of track structures, including high-speed railways, heavy-haul railways, and ordinary railways. Railroad screw spikes are key parts to ensure safe railway operation and are suitable for use in various harsh environmental conditions, such as high temperature, cold, humidity, etc. As an important part of the railway system, the quality of railway screws is directly related to the safety and efficiency of railway transportation.

How to determine the required quantity of rail screw spikes?
To determine the quantity of rail screw spikes, use the standard of four spikes per tie for straight track, and increase to six or eight spikes per tie for curved track, especially on the outside rail, to account for increased lateral forces. The total required quantity is the number of spikes per tie multiplied by the total number of ties, plus any extra spikes needed for curves.
Straight track
- Standard: Four spikes per tie are standard practice on tangent (straight) track.
- Layout: This typically means two spikes per rail, alternating sides.

Curved track
- Increased forces: Curved sections experience greater lateral forces, requiring more spikes for stability.
- Quantity: Use six to eight spikes per tie.
- Placement: Focus extra spikes on the outside rail, where forces are the greatest.

Total calculation
- Count the ties: Determine the total number of ties in the section of track you are working on.
- Calculate spikes for straight sections: Multiply the number of straight ties by four (4 spikes per tie).
- Calculate spikes for curved sections: Multiply the number of curved ties by six or eight (6-8 spikes per tie).
- Add the two together: Sum the quantities from the straight and curved sections to get the total required spikes.
