Type VII Rail Fasteners System

Railway fastener systems, also known as track fastening systems, are components used to connect rails and sleepers or other sub-rail foundations. Their function is to fix the rails on the sleepers, maintain the track gauge, and prevent the rails from moving longitudinally and laterally relative to the sleepers.

Type VII Rail Fastener System

The Type VII elastic clip railway fastener system is a heavy-duty fastening solution for heavy-haul freight lines. GNEE RAILWAY RAILWAY supplies the complete system - T-bolts, nuts, flat washers, elastic clips, insulated gauge blocks, gauge baffles, under-rail pads, pre-embedded iron seats and height-adjusting pads - for 75 kg/m and 60 kg/m rails.

Scope of Application:

  • Heavy-haul freight lines laid with 75 kg/m or 60 kg/m rails.
  • Maximum train axle load of 30 t and maximum speed of 120 km/h.
  • Ballasted tracks with shoulderless prestressed concrete sleepers, or elastic bearing-block ballastless tracks.
  • Minimum curve radius of 400 m.

Components of Type VII Railway Fastener System

T-bolts

T-bolts are divided into Type I and Type II (T2-I, T2-II). Type I is used for normal assembly or where the height adjustment is not greater than 10 mm; Type II is used where the height adjustment exceeds 10 mm.

Gauge baffles

Two types of gauge baffles are available, No. 7 and No. 11 (MG-7, MG-11). For standard gauge, No. 7 is used on the outer side and No. 11 on the inner side.

Insulated gauge blocks

Insulated gauge blocks are divided into Type I and Type II, matched with 60 kg/m and 75 kg/m rails respectively:

  • Type I includes Nos. 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 (G7-60-8/10/12/14/16). For standard gauge, No. 14 is used on the outer side and No. 10 on the inner side.
  • Type II includes Nos. 9, 11, 13 and 15 (G7-75-9/11/13/15). For standard gauge, No. 13 is used on the outer side and No. 11 on the inner side.

Under-rail height-adjusting pads

The under-rail height-adjusting pads are divided into three thicknesses: 1 mm, 2 mm and 5 mm (TD7-5). They are placed between the under-rail pad and the rail-bearing surface, or between the under-rail pad and the under-gauge-baffle height-adjusting pad.

Height-adjusting pad under gauge baffle

The height-adjusting pads under the gauge baffle are divided into two thicknesses: 5 mm and 10 mm (DTD-5/10). They are placed between the under-rail pad and the rail-bearing surface, or between the under-rail height-adjusting pad and the rail-bearing surface.

VII Type Fasteners System Functional Features

Functional Aspect Description
Elastic rail clamping Stable and continuous toe load from the spring-steel clip, maintaining rail position under dynamic loads
Vibration and noise reduction Rail pad and elastic clip work together to attenuate wheel-rail vibration and structure-borne noise
Gauge retention High lateral restraint to control gauge widening, suitable for heavy axle load and metro lines
Rail uplift control Effective resistance to vertical uplift from traction, braking and wheel impact forces
Rail creep resistance Adequate longitudinal resistance to limit rail movement along the track
Electrical insulation Insulating pads and guide plates ensure isolation between rail and sleeper for signaling systems
Fatigue durability Designed for long-term cyclic loading with stable clamping force over millions of load cycles
Sleeper-type adaptability Compatible with concrete sleepers and slab-track embedded inserts
Installation convenience Clip-in structure allows fast manual or mechanized installation and replacement
Maintenance efficiency Individual components (clip, pad, insulator) can be replaced without removing the rail
Environmental adaptability Suitable for temperature variation, humidity, dust and moderate corrosion environments
System compatibility Matched with multiple rail sections (UIC, EN, GB, AREMA) through pad and insulator design

Type VII clip Fastenering System Application

The modular design supports gauge adjustment of ±12 mm and height adjustment of up to 20 mm. Insulating components meet the requirements of electrified railway track circuits and stray current protection.

FAQ

  • Which rails is the Type VII system suitable for?

It is designed for heavy-haul freight lines with 75 kg/m or 60 kg/m rails, up to 30 t axle load and 120 km/h, on ballasted or elastic bearing-block ballastless tracks.

  • What height adjustment is available?

Up to 20 mm of height adjustment using under-rail height-adjusting pads (1/2/5 mm) and gauge-baffle height-adjusting pads (5/10 mm); T-bolt type selection depends on the adjustment amount.

  • Can the components be replaced individually?

Yes. The clip-in structure allows individual components to be replaced without removing the rail, simplifying maintenance.

  • Do you supply the system for other rail sections?

Yes. Pad and insulator designs can be matched with UIC, EN, GB and AREMA rail sections; confirm your rail profile with our engineers.
