The Type V rail fastening system is a high-speed railway system designed for use with 60kg/m rails on ballast tracks and concrete ties with shoulders. It's a type of elastic clip fastening system, composed of various components like screw spikes, flat washers, spring clips, and gauge baffles. This system is engineered to meet the operational demands of passenger-dedicated lines with speeds up to 350km/h and axle loads up to 170kN, as well as mixed passenger and freight lines with speeds up to 250km/h and axle loads up to 230kN.

Introduction of V-type fastener system components
The elastic clip Type V fastener is composed of spiral spikes, flat washers, elastic clips, gauge retainers, under-rail pads, and embedded sleeves. In addition, to meet the need for adjusting the vertical position of the rail, it also includes height-adjusting pads.
Spring clip
There are two types of elastic clips: the W2-type elastic clip used in general sections and the X3-type elastic clip used in low-resistance sections. The W2-type elastic clip has a diameter of 14mm, while the X3-type elastic clip has a diameter of 13mm. In addition, Type A elastic clips complying with TB/T 1495.2 may be used at rail joints.

Under-rail Pads
Under-rail pads are divided into two types: the rubber pad RP5 used in general sections and the composite pad CRP5 (vulcanized from rubber and stainless steel plates) possibly used on bridges.
When it is necessary to reduce the track resistance on bridges, X3-type elastic clips can be used in conjunction with composite pads. In this case, the longitudinal resistance of the rail per set of fasteners is approximately 4.0±1.0 kN.


Gauge Retainers
The gauge retainer G5 is available in seven models: No.2, No.3, No.4, No.5, No.6, No.7, and No.8. For standard gauge, No.4 and No.6 are used.

Embedded Sleeve
This component is pre-embedded in the sleeper, and the embedding accuracy shall meet the requirements. The top surface of the embedded sleeve D1 should be flush with the rail-bearing surface of the sleeper. After embedding, the embedded sleeve shall be covered with a plastic (or other material) cap to prevent rainwater and mud from entering.

Height-Adjusting Pads
The height-adjusting pad TD5 is available in four specifications according to the thickness d: 1 mm, 2 mm, 5 mm, and 8 mm, which are placed between the under-rail pad and the rail-bearing surface of the sleeper.
