Overhead Crane Rail Welding Guidelines

In the welding procedure for overhead crane rails, it is crucial to weld each layer of the rail welding wave using electrodes positioned at the track's bottom. Avoiding arc breaking in the middle of the electrodes is essential for a seamless welding process. Following the completion of overhead crane rail welding, stress relief heat treatment should be conducted before cooling, ensuring protection against rain or damp conditions. Addressing any excessive bulges in the welding should involve grinding with a wheel until flush with the rail head, followed by surface polishing.

Overhead Crane Rail Welding

Clarity in the direction of the overhead crane track is essential for controlled crane operation. To achieve this, the overhead crane rail must be oriented clearly in a specific direction.

When joining two sections of overhead crane rail, allowing for 1-2mm seams is generally acceptable. In colder environments or instances where the installation room temperature deviates by more than 20 degrees, considerations for thermal expansion and contraction should be moderate. In such cases, a 4-6mm gap between the joint of two overhead crane rail sections is recommended. The joint angle can be right or inclined at 45 degrees, facilitating smooth wheel movement at the joint. The transverse dislocation and height difference between two rail sections at the junction should not exceed 1mm. During the welding process, temporary clamps are advisable to fix the crane rails for ease of welding.
