Precision in Overhead Crane Rail Construction

The overhead crane serves as a horizontal material transport system suspended over workshops, warehouses, and stockyards. Unlike gantry crane rails, the overhead crane rail is laid on the elevated frame of cement columns on both sides, posing a higher construction challenge. Consequently, stringent design requirements and precise tolerances are imperative for overhead crane rail construction.

Overhead Crane Rail

When designing the overhead crane rail and selecting materials, special attention should be given to wheel hardness. The wheel, propelled by a crawler, moves along the overhead crane rail, causing friction. Daily use of wheels on the track can lead to differential hardness between the wheels and the overhead crane rail, resulting in increased wear and tear, along with a higher damage rate. Therefore, in overhead crane rail design and material selection, it's crucial to choose rails with suitable surface hardness for the wheels, meeting both strength calculations and minimizing wear. Generally, the selected track's hardness is kept lower than that of the wheels, as track replacement costs are typically more economical than wheel replacement.
