How to pack and ship crane rails?

Protective material selection:

Coating protection: Usually a layer of anti-corrosion coating, such as anti-rust paint, is applied to the surface of the rail. The coating can effectively isolate the rail from contact with air, moisture, etc. to prevent rust. The selection of coatings should take into account the characteristics of the crane working environment, such as whether there are acid and alkali corrosion, high temperature and other factors. For example, in some factory environments with chemical corrosion risks, special acid and alkali resistant coatings will be selected.

Plastic film wrapping: For some high-precision crane rails with high surface quality requirements, plastic film will be used for wrapping. Plastic film can prevent the rails from being scratched and dirty during transportation and storage, and can also play a certain moisture-proof role. The thickness and strength of the film must meet the requirements for protecting the rails and be easy to remove.

Rubber or foam pad protection: Rubber or foam pads can be installed at both ends of the rails and at the parts prone to collision. These pads can buffer the impact during transportation and reduce the possibility of damage to the rails. Especially for long-distance transportation or poor transportation road conditions, the protective effect of rubber or foam pads is more obvious.

Binding method:

Steel belt binding: Steel belts have high strength and toughness and can firmly bind the rails together. Generally, steel belts are used for bundling at both ends and in the middle of the rails. The width and thickness of the steel belts should be selected according to the weight and length of the rails. For example, for heavier rails such as QU100 and QU120, wider and thicker steel belts may be required.

Wire rope bundling: Wire rope is also commonly used for bundling rails, especially for some rails that need to be lifted and transported. The advantage of wire rope is good flexibility and can adapt to rails of different shapes and sizes. When bundling, pay attention to the winding method and fixing points of the wire rope to ensure that the rails will not loosen during transportation.

Nylon rope bundling: Nylon rope has the advantages of light weight and corrosion resistance. For some light crane rails or rails with high surface quality requirements, nylon rope can be used for bundling. The strength of nylon rope can also meet general transportation and storage requirements without causing damage to the surface of the rails.

Packaging label:

Model specification label: The model, specification, length and other information of the rails should be marked in a conspicuous position on the rail packaging. The label can be sprayed, labeled or stamped to ensure clear identification during transportation and use. For example, on the side or end of the rail, words such as "QU70 - 9m" will be sprayed to indicate a crane rail of model QU70 and length of 9 meters.

Manufacturer identification: Indicate the name, trademark or code of the manufacturer to facilitate traceability and query of the source and quality information of the product. The manufacturer identification can be fixed on the packaging of the rail in the form of a steel stamp, nameplate or label.

Production date identification: Marking the production date or production batch of the rail helps users understand the production time and quality stability of the product. The production date can be expressed in numbers, letters or symbols, such as "202504" for production in April 2025.

Quality certification mark: If the rail has undergone quality inspection, the quality certification mark or certificate number should be marked on the packaging. The quality certification mark can be a circular qualified stamp, a label with the word "qualified", or a specific QR code. Users can obtain detailed information such as the product's quality inspection report by scanning the QR code.

Overall requirements for packaging:

Stability: The packaged rails should have good stability and will not collapse or roll during transportation and storage. Whether it is bundled or packed, it is necessary to ensure that the rails can be firmly fixed in the package. For example, for rails stacked in multiple layers, attention should be paid to the padding and bundling methods between layers to prevent the rails from sliding during stacking.

Moisture resistance: The packaging should have a certain moisture resistance to prevent the rails from getting damp and rusting during storage and transportation. In addition to using moisture-proof protective materials, desiccant can also be placed in the package to absorb moisture in the air. For example, in some areas with high humidity, an appropriate amount of silica gel desiccant will be placed in the rail packaging.

Easy to load and unload and transport: The design of the packaging should take into account the convenience of loading and unloading and transportation, and facilitate the use of cranes, forklifts and other equipment for loading and unloading operations. For example, set appropriate lifting points or lifting rings on the rail packaging to facilitate crane lifting; or design it into a shape and size suitable for forklifts to improve loading and unloading efficiency.
