How to install the KPO rail fasteners system?
To install a KPO rail fastener system, first position and secure the baseplate to the foundation or sleeper. Then, place the rail on the baseplate, ensuring the rail is correctly positioned. Next, install the KPO clamps, followed by the T-bolts and washers, tightening the nuts until the spring washer is nearly compressed, and then perform a final tightening to secure the rail.
Installation steps
- Position the baseplate: Place the baseplate on the foundation or sleeper, ensuring it is properly spaced and aligned according to the track plan.
- Secure the baseplate: Fix the baseplate to the foundation or sleeper. For concrete sleepers, this usually involves using pre-embedded dowels (or screws) and anchor bolts.
- Install the rail: Carefully place the rail on top of the baseplate and any necessary pads.
- Insert and tighten fasteners:
Insert the T-bolt through the appropriate holes in the clamp and baseplate.
Place the adjusting plate and upper cover plate.
Add flat and spring washers, and then the nut.
Initially tighten the T-bolt until the spring washer is about 2mm from the joint or a preliminary tension is achieved.
- Final tightening: Adjust the baseplate for the correct track gauge if needed.
Finally, tighten the T-bolt to its final pressure, compressing the spring washer to the specified point to ensure a rigid and secure connection.
