Under Sleeper Pads are specially designed for application under concrete sleeper for ballasted track. They can be manufactured with a specific non woven layer for assembly into wet concrete during the sleeper production process.
Under Sleeper Pads shall be used in areas where the infrastructure is more rigid (for example, on concrete viaducts) or where some dynamic impacts are expected (for instance, turnouts), there is a stress increase in the ballast layer. The use of under sleeper pads (henceforth, USP) reduces the stiffness of the system, producing higher damping of the loads and, therefore, a reduction of the stresses that the track elements must support.
