Rail anchors are applied to the rail base directly and lodge up against the tie, they are equipped to fasten rail track on the base plate and sleepers, it is designed in one-piece construction to prevent the rail from longitudinal movements, as"creeping" of the rail, which caused by changing temperature, grades, traffic patterns, and braking action of trains.
The three main types of rail anchors, classified by their design and function, are drive-on anchors, spring-type anchors, and wedge anchors. Drive-on anchors are manually hammered into place, spring-type anchors rely on their elasticity to provide clamping force, and wedge anchors use a single or double clip that presses the rail against the sleeper.
Drive-on anchors: These are manually hammered onto the rail base to secure it to the tie.
Spring-type anchors: These anchors use the elasticity of the material to apply pressure and hold the rail in place. The force comes from the inherent spring-like quality of the anchor's design.
Wedge anchors: These anchors, also known as single/double clip types, use a wedge or clip to press against the rail, providing a secure and stable hold.
