Maintenance and care of SKL fastener system

During long-term use, SKL fastener system will be affected by the vibration, impact and environmental factors of train operation. Therefore, regular maintenance and care are key measures to ensure its stable performance and extend its service life.

Daily maintenance is mainly based on appearance inspection. Maintenance personnel need to regularly inspect the fastener system to check whether there is wear, cracks, rust and other conditions on tension clamps, screw spikes, track pads and other components. For example, if the tension clamp has surface wear and cracks, it may cause the fastening force to decrease and affect the stability of the track; when the screw spike is severely corroded, its tensile strength will decrease and there is a risk of breakage. Once these problems are found, they need to be dealt with in time, such as rust removal of slightly rusted parts and replacement of parts with severe wear and cracks.

For screw spikes, regular torque inspection is an important part of maintenance work. Due to the vibration and impact of train operation, screw spikes may become loose. Maintenance personnel need to use a torque wrench to check and tighten the screw spikes according to the specified torque value (generally 250 - 300N・m). On some railway lines with heavy traffic, the inspection frequency may need to be higher to ensure that the spikes are always well tightened.

After long-term use, the tension clamp will inevitably experience elastic attenuation. In order to accurately evaluate its performance, professional testing equipment is required to test the elasticity of the tension clamp. When the test finds that the elasticity of the tension clamp has dropped to a certain extent and cannot meet the design requirements, a new tension clamp should be replaced in time to ensure the tightening effect of the track.

The elastic properties of the track pad also need to be tested regularly. With the increase of use time, the elastic modulus of the pad may decrease. When it decreases by more than 20%, its shock absorption and buffering performance will be significantly weakened. At this time, the pad needs to be replaced in time. In addition, it is necessary to clean up debris and dirt on the fastener system, such as ballast, soil, oil, etc. These debris will not only affect the normal operation of the components, but also accelerate the wear and corrosion of the components. Maintenance personnel can use high-pressure water guns, brushes and other tools to clean and ensure the surface of the fastener system is clean.

By establishing a scientific and reasonable maintenance system and regularly conducting comprehensive inspections and maintenance of the SKL fastener system, potential problems can be discovered and resolved in a timely manner, effectively extending the service life of the system, reducing the maintenance cost of track engineering, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of railway transportation.
