How to install e Clip

As the core component of the E-type fastener system, the installation quality of e Clip (E-type spring clip) directly affects the stability of the track. The standard installation process can be divided into three main links: preparation, installation, and inspection.

Preparation before installation

Component inspection: Confirm that the e Clip model is compatible with the rail and sleeper (such as E2009 is suitable for heavy-duty railways), and check whether the spring clip has cracks, deformation and other defects; at the same time, check whether the insulating gauge block, rubber pad, embedded iron seat and other components are complete and intact.

Cleaning sleepers and rails: Remove debris and oil stains from the sleeper bearing groove and the bottom of the rail to ensure that the installation surface is clean and flat to avoid affecting the buckling pressure and insulation performance of the fastener system.

Installation process

Place the pad and gauge block: First, lay the rubber pad flat on the sleeper bearing groove, and then embed the insulating gauge block of appropriate specifications on both sides of the rail according to the gauge requirements to ensure that the gauge block fits tightly with the rail and pad.

Installation of e Clip: Align the e Clip with the embedded iron seat slot from the side of the sleeper shoulder (usually the right side), and tap the tail of the clip with a special installation tool (such as a clip installation pliers) or a sledgehammer to make it snap into the slot. The sign of proper installation is that there is a gap of about 8mm between the rear arch of the clip and the shoulder (slightly different for different models), and the toe of the clip is tightly attached to the bottom of the rail.

Tightening auxiliary components: If the system includes spiral spikes or anchor bolts, use a torque wrench to tighten them to the specified torque (usually 100-150N・m) to ensure that the entire fastener system is firmly connected.

Post-installation inspection

Buckle pressure test: Use a buckle pressure tester to measure the e Clip buckle pressure to ensure that its value meets the design requirements (such as the E1809 buckle pressure should be 10-15kN).

Appearance and position confirmation: Check whether the spring bar is fully embedded in the slot and has no deflection, the insulating gauge block has no displacement, and the rubber pad has no warping. If any problems are found, timely adjustments or replacement of parts are required.
