How Rail Gauge Tie Rods Function in Railways

Gauge tie rods function within railway systems as critical track components. The absence of rail braces would induce gauge deviation. Trains operating on such compromised tracks risk derailment, potentially causing unthinkable consequences. To prevent gauge irregularities, track gauge bars must secure the rails-this constitutes their fundamental purpose.

GNEE RAIL supplies both insulated gauge rods and non-insulated gauge rods for 56-½" track and rails of 60-140 lbs, AREMA 1-1/4 ", and other gauge rods used in BS, UIC rails, with lengths of 600mm,762mm,900mm,1435mm, etc. Other types of gauge rods are available according to your special requirements.

Rail gauge bars apply paired forces of equal magnitude and opposite direction along the rod axis, generating axial elongation (or compression) deformation. This strain constitutes axial tension. Rods subjected to axial tension or compression deformation are classified as tie rods or compression members. At rod connection points, deformed steel bars must be installed on center plates at specified intervals to counteract sleeper plate expansion and longitudinal joint gaps. A 10cm central section of each gauge retaining rod requires rust-proof treatment. Rod dimensions and spacing conform to external gauge specifications, with joint or free-edge distances typically ranging from 25-35cm.
