Drive-On Type Rail Anchors

Drive-on rail anchors must be crafted from heat-treated steel and adhere to the guidelines set forth in the AREMA Manual, Chapter 5, Part 7. These anchors, designed to resist rail movement, are heavy-duty, one-piece components like Channeloc anchors or approved equivalents. They are specifically engineered to be affixed to the rail base and apply anti-creeping force against the tie edge.

Spring Type Rail Anchors

Spring rail anchors, also constructed from heat-treated steel and meeting AREA Manual, Chapter 5, Part 7 standards, are another essential type of rail fastener. These heavy-duty, one-piece components, similar to Trueloc or Unit anchors or approved equivalents, are designed to exert anti-creeping force against the tie edge, preventing rail movement.

Both types of rail anchors must be manufactured in accordance with the specifications outlined in the AREMA Manual Chapter 5, Part 7. They should facilitate both mechanized and manual application and allow for removal and reapplication without significant loss of anchoring capability. Each spring rail anchor should be stamped to indicate its designated rail section and year of manufacture. Additionally, they should be packaged in bags containing 50 anchors each, made of heavy canvas or suitable material, with waterproof tags applied. These tags must indicate the anchor design style and rail base type.
