According to the latest national standard GB /T 2585-2021, the official specifications of hot-rolled heavy rails for railways are 50/60/75kg/m. Although 43kg/m is retained in the standard, it is a restricted use model. Heavy rails are mainly used as railway tracks to bear the load of train wheels. The cross-section shape is a symmetrical I-shaped rail head with a rounded rail head to reduce wheel flange wear. Heavy rails are required to have high toughness and fatigue resistance, and most of them are made of U75V material.
According to GB/T 3426-2017, the official specifications of crane rails are QU70/80/100/120. They are mainly used in port gantry cranes, metallurgical plant cranes and other occasions to withstand concentrated wheel pressure. The cross-section shape is an asymmetrical wide rail head and the rail waist is thickened to increase the contact area. Crane rails are required to have high hardness and high pressure resistance, and most of them are made of U71Mn material.
