The weight of 50kg/m heavy rail is about 50kg per meter, which gives it a moderate load-bearing capacity. It can withstand the weight of ordinary railway trains and various forces generated during operation, including vertical pressure, horizontal impact force and vibration, and is suitable for railway lines with moderate passenger and freight transportation volume, such as regional trunk railways, branch railways and special railways for factories and mines.
U71Mn, 50Mn and other materials are usually used, which have high hardness and good wear resistance. During the long-term operation of the train, the rail head surface of the heavy rail can resist the wear of the wheels, reduce the scratches, wear and deformation of the rail surface, thereby extending the service life of the heavy rail and reducing the railway maintenance cost. For example, on some branch railways with high frequency of use, 50kg/m heavy rails can be used for a long time without frequent replacement after reasonable maintenance.
