How to make the Railrosd Shoulder? – Lost Foam Technology
Lost Foam is a unique casting process which is ideally suited to the manufacturing of geometrically complex parts with one cast. The main characteristic of the process – as already stated in the name “Lost Foam” – is the use of “lost” patterns made of organic foam materials. The patterns are inserted into a mould material that is free of bonding agents by using vibration compression. During casting, the pattern is then pyrolysed by the molten steel, thereby creating a hollow space which the molten steel fills up. In this way, an exact metallic cast copy of the pattern is created. In addition to the possible geometric complexity, Lost Foam cast parts distinguish themselves through their excellent surface qualities and dimensional accuracy.
The rail shoulder, also known as the railway shoulder, is mainly used for pouring in the concrete sleeper to fix the elastic rail clip. We mainly produce two types of rail shoulders for rail clips: cast in shoulders and welded on shoulders.

1. Cast-in Rail shoulder
As the embedded part of the rail fastening system, the casting-in shoulder is pressed into the concrete sleeper and assembled with E-type rail clip to fix the rail. Our raw material for casting-in rail shoulder is cast iron, such as GB/T 1348-1988, NF EN 1563 (1997), ISO1038, DIN 1693, JIS G5502 (2001), KS D 4302, GOST 7293 (1985)) or BS EN 1563 (1997).

2. Weld-on Rail Shoulder
In some places, standard railway sleepers cannot be used. Railways in these places cannot use standard tie plates. At this time, weld-on rail shoulder can be flexibly welded to non-standard non-standard rai tie plate. It is particularly useful and cost-effective in this case.
According to the AREMA standard, the weld-on rail shoulder is made by hot forging. The production material of weld-on rail shoulder can be low carbon or medium carbon steel.
Weld-on shoulder is made by hot forging, and such shoulder is used for places where standard sleepers are unable to be easily used so the shoulders need to be welded on the flat steel base plates. In this way, it can fabricates the rail retaining units on both the steel ties and base plates, according to AREMA standard always.
Weld-on shoulders can be applied for clips with a range of 30lbs to 113lbs.
3. Hot Forged Rail Shoulder
Hot forged railroad shoulders are made by hot forging, and used with low carbon steel or medium carbon steel materials together with rail clip bolts and special rail clip to fix the track.
