Rail Pad
A rail pad is a resilient component placed between the base of the rail and the sleeper (or tie) in railway tracks. Its primary purpose is to provide cushioning and distribute the load exerted by the rail onto the sleeper, thereby reducing vibration, noise, and wear on the track components. Rail pads are typically made of synthetic rubber or other elastomeric materials, chosen for their ability to absorb impact and resist deterioration from exposure to weather and train-induced forces. By dampening vibrations and minimizing stress on the track structure, rail pads contribute to the overall safety, durability, and comfort of railway operations.
