Rail Damage Classification
Rail damage includes instances of rail breakage, cracks, and other issues that affect rail performance. It is categorized into three types: light damage, severe damage, and fracture.
Rail Breakage
Complete fracture of the rail section.
Crack extends through the entire rail head.
Crack extends through the entire rail bottom.
For speeds up to 160 km/h, if the top surface of the rail section has a block longer than 50mm and a depth greater than 10mm.
Light Damage
Allowable speed up to 160 km/h.
Top surface of the rail section has a block longer than 50mm and a depth greater than 10mm.
Severe Damage
Allowable speed over 160 km/h.
Top surface of the rail section has a block longer than 30mm and a depth greater than 5mm.
