Installation Requirements of railroad fasteners
Rail fasteners play a crucial role in connecting track rails with railway ties or sleepers, ensuring the stability of the rail track. Their primary function is to fix the correct position of the track rails, preventing horizontal and vertical displacement as well as potential rollovers. Additionally, these fasteners offer elasticity, insulation, and effective gauge adjustment.
Before laying the rail track and drilling holes in the plate, tie plates need to be positioned on a new tie. The placement is typically canted, allowing the cant to run toward the center of the tie. It is advisable to tamp the tie before installing clips. For a taller structure, the raised heel seat is positioned on the field side of the plate. With the tie plate centered, a pilot hole should be drilled for the screw spike. Subsequently, a visual check ensures that the plate fasteners are securely fastened, and the tie plate is snug against the tie.
