Rail steel refers to steel specially used to make heavy rails, light rails, crane rails and contact rails. Rails play a very important role in China's railway transportation. There are three types of rails: heavy rails, light rails and crane rails. The difference between heavy rails and light rails is that the weight of the rails per unit length is different. In my country, according to the standard GB2585-2007 railway rails, rails with a net weight of 38kg/m and above are heavy rails.

Rails are the main component of railway tracks. Its function is to guide the wheels of locomotives and vehicles forward, withstand the huge pressure of the wheels, and transfer it to the sleepers. The main materials of rails are iron, carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur and other elements. Among them, iron is the main component. Although the carbon content is relatively small, it has a great influence on the performance of rails and is the main source of tensile strength and hardness of rails.

Rail steel is widely used in the field of railways and rail transportation. First of all, it is used for the laying of railway ballasts. The rail steel and the roadbed are fixed by a protective layer to ensure the stability and safety of the rails. Secondly, it is used to fix the track after it is laid, which can effectively disperse the load of the wheels on the rails and reduce structural stress and wear.
