In the field of railway construction, the performance of fastener systems is directly related to the safety and stability of railway operation. As two mainstream railway fastener systems, SKL and KPO each have unique design and performance characteristics, suitable for different application scenarios.
SKL series spring clip fastener systems, such as SKL3, SKL12 and SKL14, stand out with their excellent buckling pressure and elasticity. The system mainly consists of SKL tension clamps, SS35 spiral spikes, flat washers, plastic sleeves, guide plates and rail pads. SKL systems are very common in ballasted track concrete sleeper applications around the world. Its spring clip structure is exquisitely designed, which can provide strong buckling pressure for the rails, effectively maintain the track gauge and prevent rail displacement. On high-speed railway lines, the SKL system fully demonstrates its good elasticity, which can buffer the huge impact force generated by train operation, greatly improving the stability and durability of the track. At the same time, the SKL system meets the requirements of various fastening categories such as A, B, C, D, and E in the EN 13481 standard, has excellent creep resistance and torsion resistance, and is suitable for seamless lines. The base plate can be fixed in various ways, and carriage bolts, through-bolts, or diagonal guide plates can be selected according to actual needs. In addition, product options with or without corrosion protection can be provided according to different environmental conditions.

The KPO type gusset rail fastener system uses gussets as buckling parts, and works together through threaded spikes, spring washers, iron seats, and buffer pads. The threaded spikes are anchored in the reserved holes of the concrete sleeper support platform with cement mortar, and then the gussets are fastened with bolts to achieve a stable connection between the rail and the sleeper. The KPO system has a relatively simple structure and is easy to install and maintain. In some ordinary railway branch lines or urban rail transit projects that have relatively low requirements for track elasticity, focus on cost control, and have limited construction space, the KPO system has certain advantages. For example, in the renovation of some old railway lines, the KPO system can quickly complete the fastener replacement work with its easy-to-operate characteristics, reducing the impact of construction on line operations.

The SKL system has excellent performance in fastening pressure, elasticity, and adaptability to high-speed and heavy loads, and is more suitable for use in high-speed railways, trunk railways and other scenarios with strict requirements on track performance; the KPO system has its unique value in certain specific sections of ordinary railway branches and urban rail transit with its simple structure, convenient installation and maintenance, and low cost. When choosing a fastener system, railway builders need to comprehensively consider multiple factors such as line type, operation requirements, and cost budget to make the most appropriate decision.
