U71Mn is a high manganese steel material, belonging to railway rail steel. The following is an introduction to its characteristics and applications:
Chemical composition: Mainly contains carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn) and other elements. The carbon content is generally between 0.65%-0.77%, the silicon content is between 0.15%-0.35%, and the manganese content is between 1.10%-1.50%. A higher manganese content can improve the strength and wear resistance of steel.
Mechanical properties: U71Mn has high strength, hardness and good wear resistance. Its tensile strength is usually not less than 880MPa, the yield strength is not less than 580MPa, and the elongation after fracture is not less than 9%.
Processing characteristics: Due to its high strength and hardness, U71Mn material is relatively difficult to process, and requires the use of appropriate processing technology and tools. For example, when cutting, carbide tools need to be used and appropriate cutting parameters need to be selected to avoid excessive tool wear and deterioration of the workpiece surface quality.
Application areas: Mainly used for laying railway tracks, especially in areas with high requirements for track wear resistance and strength, such as heavy-duty railways, busy freight lines, and turnouts. Rails made of U71Mn can withstand larger train loads, reduce track wear and deformation, extend the service life of the track, and improve the safety and reliability of railway transportation.
