Railroad Spike Installing Procedures
Railroad spike installation is a critical process that requires attention to safety and precision. let us see them together.
Safety Precautions
Prioritize safety by implementing safety isolation facilities. Workers should remain within designated safety areas throughout the installation process, whether it's on a new road construction site or a traffic trunk road. Ensure a 1:1 ratio of security personnel to installation personnel on traffic trunk roads, and a 1:3 ratio in safety areas.
Prepare Installation Area
Verify the installation position and ensure it is smooth and flat. If the surface is scalable, cracked, or uneven, workers should make efforts to flatten the road.
Clean Installation Surface
Thoroughly clean the installation position using a brush and ensure it is completely dry before proceeding.

Apply Adhesive
Apply an appropriate amount of adhesive onto the surface of the railroad spike. Press the spike firmly into the correct installing position. Clean excess adhesive if necessary.
Install Aluminum-Made Spikes
If using aluminum-made spikes with pins, ensure that the hole depth is 1cm deeper than the pin depth, and the diameter of the hole is 2mm larger than the diameter of the spike pin.
Inspection
After installing the railroad spikes, conduct an inspection to ensure there are no spikes installed in the wrong direction or crookedly.
Removal of Safety Isolation Facilities
Once the spikes are securely fastened to the sleepers, typically after 4 hours of solidification, remove the safety isolation facilities.
