How to Assemble Type V Elastic Clip Railway Fasteners

The V-type spring clip fastener system is designed to meet the technical requirements of the passenger dedicated line fastener system for laying prestressed concrete ballasted track with shoulder pads.

 

The V-type spring clip fastener consists of spiral spikes, flat washers, spring clips, gauge baffles, rail pads and embedded casings. In addition, it also includes height adjustment pads for the needs of rail height adjustment.

 

Spring Clip V Fastener Assembly Instructions

 

①. Installation of pre-embedded sleeves: When manufacturing concrete sleepers, the embedding position of pre-embedded sleeves must be strictly ensured, and the top surface of the pre-embedded sleeves should be flush with the rail-bearing surface of the sleeper. After the pre-embedded sleeves are installed, they should be covered with plastic (or other materials) caps to prevent rainwater and mud from entering.

②. Fastener assembly sequence and precautions:


a. Clean the mud and dirt from the rail-bearing surface of the sleeper and remove the plastic (or other material) caps from the pre-embedded sleeves.


b. Select the type of under-rail pad (rubber pad or composite pad) and place it in the middle of the rail-bearing surface of the sleeper. The flange of the pad should engage with the rail-bearing surface.

c. Clean the mud and dirt from the rail base, then lay the rail.


d. Install gauge retainers of appropriate specifications as specified in the table. The gauge retainers should be placed between the lugs on both sides of the under-rail pad and must not press against the under-rail pad. Check the gauge direction; if it is improper, replace the gauge retainers.

e. Place the elastic clip, put a flat washer on the spiral spike, fully coat the threaded part with railway-specific protective grease, then screw it into the pre-embedded sleeve and fasten the elastic clip. The elastic clip should be fastened until the front lower jaw in the middle of the clip makes contact with the rail. At this point, the tightening torque is approximately: 160N·m for W2-type elastic clips; 95N·m for X3-type elastic clips.

③. Rail height adjustment: According to the specific conditions of rail height adjustment, place height-adjusting pads under the under-rail pad, and make their lugs clamp the gauge retainers. The total thickness of the inserted height-adjusting pads must not exceed 10mm, and the number of height-adjusting pads must not exceed two.

④. Lateral rail position adjustment: Replace the gauge retainers as required in the gauge configuration table according to the specific lateral position adjustment needs of the rail. The specifications of the gauge retainers in the configuration table are for normal conditions.
