How rail gauge rod works?

A rail gauge rod works by physically connecting two rails to keep them a specific distance apart, preventing them from spreading or tilting under the force of trains. These rods are typically placed at the bottom of the rails and are crucial for maintaining track stability, especially at weak points like curves, turnouts, or areas with worn ties. They provide lateral stability, ensuring the track gauge remains within the correct, safe measurement to prevent derailme

How rail gauge rod works?

• Connects rails: A gauge rod is a steel bar that links the two parallel rails together at the bottom.

• Maintains gauge: It prevents the rails from spreading outwards due to the lateral forces exerted by a train. This is often done by using a tensile force in the rod, which pulls the rails toward each other.

• Increases stability: By holding the rails in place, it significantly increases the lateral stability of the track, making it less likely to tilt or buckle.

• Strengthens weak points: Gauge rods are most often used at critical areas where the track is more susceptible to movement, such as sharp curves, switches, or sections with low-quality ties.

• Application: 43, 50, 60, 75kg/m rail

• Working temperature: -40~60 degrees Celsius

According to the different track types, the gauge tie rods can be divided into: 8kg/m type, 12kg/m type, 15kg/m type, 18kg/m type, 22kg/m type, 24kg/m type, 30kg/m type, 38kg/m type, 43kg/m type, 50kg/m type, 60kg/m type used for switch rails.

According to the different turnout numbers, the gauge tie rods can be divided into: No. 2 type, No. 3 type, No. 4 type, No. 5 type, No. 6 type, No. 7 type, No. 8 type, No.9 type, No. 12 type used for the turnouts.
