In the field of rail applications, GB 24kg light rail and 8kg light rail both have their own uses. However, 24kg light rail has many characteristics and shows obvious advantages in many aspects.

1. Stronger carrying capacity

GB 24kg light rail has a rail height of 107mm, a waist thickness of 10.9mm, and a theoretical weight of 24.46kg/m . The larger rail height gives it excellent vertical carrying capacity, which can stably support heavier transportation equipment and cargo gravity. The thicker waist enhances the bending resistance and can effectively cope with the larger bending stress generated during transportation. In industrial plants, the tracks used for 5-10 ton cranes and overhead cranes are difficult for 8kg light rails to withstand the pressure caused by the frequent operation of such heavy equipment, while 24kg light rails can easily do the job, ensuring the smooth operation of the equipment and the efficient production operations. In contrast, the 8kg light rail is mainly suitable for scenarios with a load of several hundred kilograms, such as sliding door tracks in homes or small offices, and is not capable of carrying heavy equipment.

Rail Type SIZE(mm) theoretical weight
height bottom width head width waist depth
Light rail 8KG 65 54 25 7 8.42
9KG 63.5 63.5 32.1 5.9 8.94
12KG 69.85 69.85 38.1 7.54 12.2
15KG 79.37 79.37 42.86 8.33 15.2
18KG 90 90 40 10 18.06
22KG 93.66 93.66 50.8 10.72 22.3
24KG 107 90 51 10.9 24.46
30KG 107.95 109.95 60.33 12.3 30.1

2. Wider application scenarios

Due to its outstanding load-bearing capacity, the 24kg light rail has more diverse application scenarios. In mining areas, a large amount of mined ore needs to be transported. The transport vehicles not only have a large load capacity, but also have a large impact on the track during driving. The 24kg light rail can withstand such high-intensity use and ensure smooth ore transportation. At the construction site, the transportation of various building materials also requires reliable track support, and the 24kg light rail can meet its needs. However, due to its limited load capacity, the 8kg light rail is mostly used in light assembly lines and small transportation systems inside factories, which have low load-bearing requirements, and it is difficult to play a role in the above-mentioned heavy-load environment.

3. Better structural stability

The 24kg light rail head is 51mm wide and has a larger contact area with the wheel, which can evenly disperse the pressure, reduce track wear, and extend the service life of the track. Its overall structural design enables it to remain stable in the face of complex working conditions, such as frequent starting, impact force generated by braking, and vibration during transportation. In contrast, the 8kg light rail, due to its lightweight design, is more likely to be displaced or deformed when facing large external impacts or vibrations, affecting normal use and requiring more frequent maintenance and adjustments, increasing the cost of use and time.
